Essex

At last its update time again. Things have been so busy since my last blog. The events are going well in the jail and this year we have introduced dining nights that are looking very popular going by the bookings. The main nights have passed without incident and all the clients have left in good spirits no pun intended. The private bookings have also gone off well so far. It also would appear that we are seeing a shift in the perception and handling of bookings by paranormal groups this year. From my perspective they are appearing more professional towards their clients and the world of spirit in general. There will always be a few who act like children in a sweetshop as soon as they arrive in the venue but experience has shown that groups such as this have a very short life span fortunately.

Something that has dawned on me is the difference in the change of pace between the South West and the East Coast. Growing up on the East Coast I was aware that the pace of life was faster but it seems that now after only15 years in the South West I have slowed to the point that when I drive around here I always seem to be in the way of someone. Its the same with shopping in the High Street, you can walk down a High Street here that is crammed with people and not a single person will notice you! Well unless you get in their way that is. I have also noticed that this is where the money is, Cornwall is nice, calm and spiritual but there is no money, Essex is noisy and fast but the people are minted! I have seen more super-cars on the roads than I have ever seen in a motor show, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Audi R8's just popping to the shops!

One improvement that I have thanked the local council for is the changes to the local cemetery. People are inherently lazy up here and like to drive everywhere and at Christmas time while I was tending mothers grave there was a constant stream of cars driving through the cemetery to drop off flowers at their respective graves then whoosh, they were away to get on with their busy lives. It was like tending a grave at a McDonald’s drive through! A cemetery is a place of rest and respect, a place where you should take time to remember loved ones and just take a moment to remember that if it were not for ancestors and family you would not be here! Many a time my clients comment when the spirit of a loved one turns up at the table, “But my relative was not at this jail!!” “no” comes my response “but you are and as your energy is their energy that’s why they have chosen to connect with you at this time. We are the result of them, without them once being in existence we would not exist”.

Lets get with the spiritual / paranormal vibe after all that's what I do for a living. In Essex we have the legend of Borley Rectory. At one time apparently the most haunted place in the country! “I know there are many” most of the activity was researched by a gentlemen called Harry Price (1881-1948) now Mr Price was they say the Paranormal expert of his day, his work at Borley set the scene for paranormal investigation to this day. In modern times its very easy to write debunk and generally be sceptical, I know I get it every week. What modern sceptics sometimes fail to take into account is the time frame that Mr Price was working. This was the period of Alistair Crowley, The Ashkir-Jobson Trianion group, Spiritualist Mediums, Séance’s, Golden Dawn, and a drive for understanding of all things not just the Paranormal, after all this was the start of the age of enlightenment. If you are thinking of putting together your own Paranormal investigation group you can do no better that reading all you can about the world of the paranormal and spiritualist movement. Perhaps leap in and join some societies and gain a deeper understanding, not all involve hand shakes and the potentcail for global control, and gather as much information as you can. Also think about those that have seriously walked this path before, their work was legendary and sometimes on the wild side but that's how we learn as human beings by sometimes stepping out of the box so to speak.

So before you take the “I run a paranormal group plunge” and promote yourself as the best group in the UK just because you brought a batch of K2 meters from Taiwan, because that’s what they use on Ghost-hunters, think about all those who have gone before. the old methods of spirit communication work just as well today as they did back in the 1930's and in some cases better. Look to master the Table Tipping, The Planchet, The Mirror or how about the Communigraph and Psychomantium? Look them up... they did exist.

Please before you set out your Paranormal Groups mission statement saying We are a professional paranormal group formed with the intention of debunking the world of the paranormal! Think about what you are trying to say. As a race we are very good at forgetting the past, its all been done before and its seems to be the modern way to try to disprove things because its the easy option. There are those out there who say that we never went to the moon in 1969, there was also a sceptic out there who thrust a copy of the Bible in front of my hero Buzz Aldrin and asked him to place his hand on it and swear they went! He did what any sane and normal man would do in that situation, he punched him in the face. Even the Holocaust and atrocities at Auschwitz have now been claimed by people never to have happened!! General Eisenhower ordered his men during the liberation of the death camp to “take lots of photographs boy's because some day some bastard will say this never happened”.
